Peter Lion had been inclined towards writing from a very early age. During his maturing years in Connecticut he was seen dabbling in poetry as well as wrote numerous short stories. His talent in this field was further honed when after enrolling in the Notre Dame High School in Connecticut he started contributing to the students school newspaper.
He set out to create a career of his passion with the words first by acquiring a degree in Journalism through the Southern Connecticut State University. He printed his very first magazine article inside the Hartford Magazine before he had graduated with his journalism degree.
He ventured to the television business even before he had completed his college. A few months before graduation, Peter Lion took up employment with WTNH-TV as a part time graphics operator. This television channel was an associate with the ABC network and was based out of New Haven. Peter Lion though, didn’t have knowledge of this field snapped up this chance to get an entry and to develop a foothold in the news and television industry.
He learned the ropes rapidly, comprehending the technicalities in the workings of the television network and remained a part of the channel for more than a time period of two years.
Then he transferred to Boston and started working with WSBK as a Technical Director. He worked on several projects, his major one being the Boston Red Sox Baseball and Boston Bruins Hockey. However, his desire to be in television and his love for writing pulled him back to his home state as a part of a little television station start up.
He joined this team as a director and a technical director for the 10 PM news cast, that was to be the first in the state. He grabbed this opportunity of showcasing his talent and knowledge as with his stint in Boston he has had the capacity of working with several accomplished directors. He used this understanding to develop the show from the beginning.
Peter Lion moved to Pittsburg and joined KADA TV after completing two years in this start up. In his stint in this television network, he exploited the many facets of his expertise and worked as a weather anchor, announcer, news producer, feature producer and director. It was throughout his stint at KADA-TV that Peter Lion found inspiration for his book titled The American St. Nick”.
Then he moved back in Connecticut and was a part of ESPN sports network. Still an integral part of ESPN, he’s in charge of a number of their shows such as Sports Centre and the NFL Draft as part of his position within the organization as a Director. His primary show however, remains, College Gameday.
He has been a two time winner of the Emmy awards, even though he’s been nominated many times for his contribution while in the television industry. He got his first Emmy for his work with Sports Centre and received his second Emmy for the show NFL countdown.
Apart from working, Peter Lion is presently working on his second book. He’s additionally a part of a band that goes by the name of Cheaper than Therapy” and is its lead singer as well as guitarist
